This is the second known game for Loyola Chicago, after a home game against Chicago State Dec. 9. It’s unclear when — or how, for that matter — the rest of the schedule will shape out.
UIC (2-0) has played one in-state school in Northern Illinois, coming back from a 22-point deficit to win the season opener. The Flames’ matchup with Loyola Chicago is their first since 2018-19, a 73-64 Ramblers victory. The two teams were in the Horizon League together until Loyola joined the Missouri Valley in 2013.
Loyola Chicago has been on pause since Nov. 16 due to multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the program and hasn’t played a game yet. Coach Porter Moser told ESPN’s Seth Greenberg and Dan Dakich that 16 of 17 players and four of six coaches tested positive, prompting the shutdown.
